Technology for Improving Your Indoor Air Quality

Poor indoor air quality in your Dallas, Texas, home can lead to allergy symptoms, asthma attacks, and flu-like symptoms. Some of the most common indoor air pollutants are pollen, dust, dirt, mold, pet dander, and household chemicals. Fortunately, advanced technology, such as UV air purifiers, air cleaners, and ventilators, can reduce these contaminants and improve your home’s indoor air quality.

UV Air Purifiers

UV, or ultraviolet, air purifiers can kill organisms such as mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, and dust mites by damaging their genetic structure.

Carrier’s Performance Ultraviolet Germicidal UV Light is a coil sterilization UV lamp that attaches to the inside of your air conditioner’s outdoor air handler with a strong magnet. The device shines a germ-killing light at the evaporator or induction coil, preventing mold growth caused by condensation which helps keep your HVAC system working at peak efficiency.

Air Cleaners

Air cleaners, also called air purifiers, use air filters to capture contaminants. Air cleaners with high MERV, Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, ratings can filter out some viruses and bacteria from your indoor air. A professional can connect a whole-home unit to your HVAC system, or you can use a less costly portable unit to filter the air in one room or area.

The Infinity whole-home air purification system has a MERV 15 filter that can trap up to 95 percent of particles. The system also uses an electrical charge to kill them.

Energy Recovery Ventilators

Ventilation can control humidity and reduce concentrations of pollutants by removing stale air and bringing fresh air into your home. Energy recovery ventilators, ERVs, use a filter to remove any outdoor contaminants. Heat exchangers move energy from the outgoing air to the incoming air, conditioning the fresh air like a heat pump. The Carrier energy recovery ventilator has a high-efficiency design that minimizes energy loss and keeps stale air from mixing with incoming fresh air.
