Passive Dehumidification-How it is Yielding Significant Energy Savings for Homeowners in Collin County

One of the main functions of an air conditioning system is dehumidification of the inside air. In Collin County, TX, it is especially important. If the inside environment of the house feels moist, any energy savings are lost because the occupants will turn the thermostat down in an attempt to remain comfortable. Bill Joplin’s Air Conditioning & Heating wants to introduce you to a new system that will keep the indoor air comfortable and save money at the same time.

What is Passive Dehumidification?

Passive dehumidification is a new technology that uses no extra electricity. It uses a series of three separate evaporator coils to cool and heat the air. In the first part of the system, the incoming air is passed over a set of evaporator coils filled with super cooled refrigerant. The heat in the air passes into the fluid. The temperature difference causes condensation to form. This removes moisture from the air. The heated refrigerant is sent to a holding tank. The energy savings will become evident in the third part of the system.

In the second part of the system, the air is again passed over evaporator coils with colder refrigerant. The dehumidification process happens again. This refrigerant is sent to the outside evaporator coils where it is cooled. Now the air has been cooled twice. It is very near freezing. It is far too cold to enter the house safely. It is passed over evaporator coils containing the heated refrigerant from the first part of the system. The air is heated to the temperature set at the thermostat.

How Passive Dehumidification Meets Homeowners’ Needs

There are significant energy savings from this system. First, no additional energy is used in this air conditioner. Second, since dry air feels cooler, the thermostat can be set higher. By using ceiling fans, the utility bill is greatly reduced. Bill Joplin’s Air Conditioning & Heating in Collin County, TX, wants to help you reduce your air conditioning bills and have a comfortable home. A passive dehumidification system can help you achieve high energy savings in your home.
