A+ Quality AC Repair in Celina for Over 40 Years!
History of Celina
Located in northwestern Collin County, Celina is just 12 miles from downtown Frisco and 15 miles from downtown McKinney. The city was named in 1879 by John T. Mulkey after his Tennessee hometown. In 1902, long before Joplin’s providing AC repair in Celina, merchants and homeowners placed their businesses and homes on rollers and moved everything one mile to the north in order to be closer to the newly built Frisco railway. The town was incorporated in 1907 after several decades of growth. In 1915, the Celina Pike became the first road in the entire county to be built exclusively for automobile use.
Celina covers 14.2 square miles and is situated about halfway between the Oklahoma border and Dallas. State Highway 289 provides convenient access to nearby major cities like Dallas and Sherman. The town is primarily comprised of farms and ranch land with many beautiful open fields. The terrain is generally flat with slightly rolling plains. Celina has grown dramatically over the past several years, and there is currently an average of about 430 people for every square mile in the town.
Population and Demographics
During the town’s earliest years, around 150 people lived in Celina. Though the town fluctuated between 1,000 and 2,000 residents for most of the 20th century, the town grew from 1,861 residents in 2000 to over 6,100 residents in 2010. When you consider people living in outlying rural areas, the population grows to more than 8,000 residents. Celina homeowners enjoy their location because the quiet, peaceful town is located near major roads for convenient access to larger cities.
